Adding "Martha Stewart" to the skills section of my resume

I promise this is the last time I talk about my pants. But do you know what the best feeling in the world is? When your pants don't fit. I mean you put them on, and then slide down on to your hips. Great feeling. But, what does one do when that happens? I mean, I don't know about you but I love Christmas and I love holidays and I love to treat my family to wonderful things at that time. So new pants aren't always in the cards.

Plus they are work pants, and work pants have to look good, but not "whoa I wish my butt looked that good in my pants" pants.

Solution? Get out the sewing machine and take them in. Yourself.

It really isn't as bad as it sounds. Mind you I did take sewing lessons as a child. (One point on the coolness scale for me, thank you very much).

By taking them in yourself you get the opportunity to use those extra dollars on a waaay better treat. Like something extremely cute and necessary (like a lace dress from forever21!!! Did it!!!)
Work pants eat your heart out!

Or, make a loaf. There is nothing cuter than a loaf. Blueberry, lemon, cranberry, cinnamon apple. Your pick. They're all cute.

My choice? Combo. Cranberry Apple inspired by the cranberries left over from Christmas time. See Christmas can stretch, even when your dollar isn't.

(All photos taken on my blackberry...not too shabby!)

Cranberry Lemon Loaf (adapted from the Pass the Sushi blog recipe)

1 cup kamut flour
1/2 cup whole wheat flour (however you can substitute either flour for whatever kind you have)
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 teas salt
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup apple sauce
1/2 cups sugar
1 tbs grated lemon zest
4 egg whites
1/4 cup milk
1 1/2 cup fresh cranberries (frozen is ok too)

In one bowl combine flours, baking powder and salt.

In a second bowl mix together butter, apple sauce, and  sugar. Add in the lemon zest and eggs.  Add the lemon zest and egg whites and mix until combined. Add the flour mixture and milk. Beat until just combined. (Don’t over mix!) Finally, fold in your cranberries.

Pour the batter into a loaf pan and bake at 325F for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the bread sit in the pan for 10 minutes then cool on a wire rack for 1 hour.

My cute loaf smells buttery and sweet and tart and will match perfectly with my lace dress.
